AT DANNEVIRKE.

DANNEVIBKE, This Day.

The Dannevirke Brass Band B Grade Contest, under the auspices of the North Island Brass Bands Association., commenced to-day. The visiting bands, seven in number, were entertained at a. garden party this afternoon, and accorded a civic welcome by the Mayor. The solo results to date are :—

E. Flat Bass.—T. Barton., Marton, 94 points, 1; E. Prout, Masterton, 91 points, 2; A. Loa-ne, Dannevirke, 90 points, 3. Twelve entries. BB Flat.—H. Booker, PaJmerratou, 93 points, 1; H. Rowe, Auckland Coast Defence, 88 points, 2. Thirteen entries. The military display and quick step competition take place to-morrow.
