The tourney to decide the draughts championship of Australasia is scheduled to commence at Timaru on Good Friday. This contest was to have been held last September, bub the drastic railway " cut" then in force necessitated a post; ponement. It is very doubtful whether any Wellington players will be taking part in the impending tourney. The present holder of the title is Mr. D. Calderwood, of Huntly, who won if at the last tourney—held at Invercargill five years ago. • .
