TTMARU, 9th December. An inquest was held at Fairlie into tho fatal accident by whioh a lorry driver named Richard. Patrick O'Brien, a. returned soldier, for a short time a prironer in Germany, lost his life. Ho was taking a load of timber from Fairlie to Tekapo,' and it is supposed ho missed in changing tho gear in climbing out of a gully near Burkes Pass, and that tho lorry ran back and capsized and O'Brien was killed by timber falling on his head.
