SWISS PAPER'S ATTACK ON GERMANY
The Gazette of Lausanne, Switzerland, was again warned recently by the Swiss Federal Chancellory in connection with its savage criticism of the Germans in oorporated in it 3 review of former Ambassador Gerard's book "My Fcuv Years in Germany." The newspaper was notified that another article of the sort, characterised as threatening to compromise Swiss relations with Germany, would be more severely punished. The warning cites the following passages; in tho -introduction to the review as. objectionable : -. ' ■ '
'.'One sees in the author the memoirs of an absolutely honest man required to live four years. among knaves and other malefactors. "^" ■•■ •
"But Germany has always violated divine right and human laws/ Its lies, its inexcusable savageries, and the relentlcssncss with which it has destroyed the most beautiful monuments of the eai-th, and with which it has precious libraries and museums have dishonoured it for eve:'. The.world must destroy it or the. world is lost."
■ The Gazette received a similar warning on 7th June, 1915.
