LONDON, 16th July.

The Empire Press Union Conference welcomed thirty Canadian editors. The Conference discussed the necessity for increased cable facilities, and also considered the- Government's proposed Empire press news service. The speakers insisted that the latter should be free from Government influence. They urged increased facilities for the collection of news, but that..the selection and trans- 1 mission should remain under newspaper control.

Lord Burnham presided at it subae' quent luncheon. Similar conferences of South African and Australian journalists are being arranged.
