CRITICISM OF GENERAL SIR A. GODLEY.
A much-debated officer.'as far"a£/fti'& present session, of Parliament i£"" concerned, is General Sir Alexander Godley. He was again mentioned in ; the House of Representatives last night .-by Sir Joseph Ward, who said that General Godley,-although in charge of the' New. ZeaJanders, was an imperial officer. He did not doubt the sincerity of the members who had criticised General God!ey, bnt he wanted to state t!hat he was responsible for General Godley's appointment in this country to deal..with the Territorial scheme.. He expressed the view that General Godley should have had the opportunity of considering the charges made against him before.they were brought up on the' floor of the House.
