ST. MARK'S
The annual parishioners' meeting of St. Mark's Church, Sussex-square, was held. in the schoolroom last evening. There was a fair attendance of parishioners; includting a number of ladies. The vicar (Rev. C. F. Askew, 8.A.) occupied the chair. "It has been especially gratifying, said Mr. Askew in reporting on the church work for the past year, "to note the increased church attendance, and the evening congregations lately have been particularly pleasing. On Easter Day there were the largest congregations that have been seen at St. Mark's. During the year there have been 101 baptisms, 40 weddings, 35 funerals, 31 confirmation candidates, and 3679 acts of Communion, an increase of 247 over the previous year. (Applause.) Many bright young lives have been cut off since the war began, but ifc is felt that their lives have not been in vain. For the loyal co-operation and support of churchwardens and vestry, and all the helpers in the various parish organisations, I desire to express my most sincere thanks." The report and balance-sheet (which have already been dealt with in The Post) were adopted without discussion. The election of parish officers for the coming year resulted as under:— Vicar's churchwarden, ' Mr. W. H. Madeley; parishioners' churchwarden,, Mr. W. J. Gaudin; vestry," Messrs. G. W. Barlthrop, J.
