CONCERNING REJECTS

10 THE EDITOR. Sir, —Being a constant and interested reader of your paper I have longingly watched to see if some light would be forthcoming 'as regards the position of the unfortunate reject. To have the name of a man who has frequently offered his services put down on the Reserve list among the names of those who have been callous to the call of the Empire, and thus let him receive the vituperation that they probably will receive, and be identified with them as though he were of their, structure, seems to me to bo penalising the already afflicted and to display a lack, of British justice. lam one of those rejects and feel my position painfully, as, having offered my services in August.. 1914, and periodically since —last date 26th June, 1916—1 feel that I am \fjrthy of better classification, and I write these few lines hoping to gain advice as to how I may se^k a more salubrious environment for my good name. Is it possible for me' on my recent rejection, upon applying to the .Government Statistician and proving-my case, to have my name removed from the Reserve list or must T re-enlist after the Reserve list is out and then have my name removed? I want to go to the front if the authorities will have me, but if they will not then I must have my chastened name off the Reserve list. Please state through the medium of your paper what course you would best advise and thus make me indebted to you. —I am, etc., ARMAGEDDON. [On furnishing the Government Statistician with proof that a man has enlisted the man's name will be starred. It is also open for a man to apply to the Commandant Defence Forces for discharge from the Reserve, and on satisfying the Commandant as to the applicant's permanent unfitness the application will be granted.. Such applicant's name will then automatically.be removed from thfl Reserve and will not.fip to.the b.allot.]
