PETONE SITTING.

A sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held at Petono this morning, before Mr L. G. Reid, S.M.

•H. J. Stinson, for using obscene language, was Qnod 40s, or in default 14 days' imprisonment, his Worship remarking that "this kind of thing must be put down." A prohibition order was issued against tho same defendant, and also against Sarah Floyd, in each ease on tho application of the police. Letitia Hammington was fined 10a, or in _ default three days' imprisonment, for being on licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order.

Thos. W. Smith, for using threatening behaviour lil;eJy to create a broach of the poaco, was fined 10s, with 7s costs, or in default throe days' imprisonment. Sydney Rowo Wallis, Arthur Wade, and Clive Pearce, for riding motor-cycles on the footpath, were each convicted and ordered to pay 7s costs. Judgment by default was given in the following undefended civil cases: —George Jonos v. Minnie M'Cauley, £3 2s 6d, with 6s costs; George Leavey v. George Swarm, £1 3s, with 5s costs.
