TEACHERS' SUPERANNUATION BOARD

The quarterly meeting of the Teachers' Superannuation Board was held yesterday, the Hon. J. A. Hanan (Minister of Education) presiding. Ordinary allowances amounting to £353 7s were granted to Five contributors, whilo in three medically unfit cases allowances totalling £408 14s were granted. Two widows of deceased contributors were granted refunds of contributions amounting- to £558 15s, and four widows and four children wore granted tho usual statutory allowances, the allowances to one widow and one child being granted on the death of tho contributor with tho Expeditionary Forces. In the case of four other contributors who were killed on active service tho board authorised payment to their estates of their contributions to the fund, amounting to £129.

.A. decision of importance ro those teachers who are members of the fund was come to by the board. It was resolved that each application for early retiroment under the extended provisions of tho Act be dealt with on its merits. Tho scalo of reduction in allowances hitherto in force was cancelled, and in future the amount by which the allowanco is to be reduced will bo fixed as each case arises. . ■
