SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

A meeting of the- Shakespeare Tercentenary Commemoration Committee was held iast evening, Mr. Byron Brown being in the chair. The secretary reported that their Excellencies the Earl and Countess of Liverpool had granted their patronage to the festival, and signified their intention of endeavouring to attend one of the performances. Mr. J. M. Clark moved that New Zealand should come into line with other parts of. the Empire in celebrating tho event, and also in assisting the Red Cross Fund, a-nd proposed that 5000 medallions be printed on ribbon. This was carried. A deputation from the St. John Ambulance and Red Cross Association . waited on the meeting with reference to holding a special day for the sale of tickets.
