PETONE METHODIST SOCIAL

At the Wesley Church, Nelson-street, Petono, last night, an enthusiastic meeting o£ Methodists extended a welcome to tho newly-appointed minister, tho Rev. A. M'Bean and his family. Mr. W. H. Melhuish, circuit steward, presided. Speeches •of welcome were made by Mr. F. Lockwood, Mr. Hurrell, tho Rev. W Beckett (Hutt Methodist), Rev. G. B. Stephenson (Anglican), Rev. E. Evans (Baptist), Adjutant Parsons (Salvation Army), Mrs. Rowse (Ladies' Guild), Messrs. Jacobsen, Melhuish, and M'Dougall. An apology for absence was received from the Rev. A. Bruce Todd (St. David's Presbyterian). During the evening the choir rendered tho anthem, "Radiant Morn," and songs were contributed by Misses Rowso and Foster. Mrs. Maud acted as organist.
