GERMAN COMMANDERS DENY RESPONSIBILITY

NEW YORK, 20tH January. The reports from the German submarine commanders deny the responsibility for the sinking of the Persia. [The P. and 0. Liner Persia was sunk in the Mediterranean on 30th December, and 325 persons, including the newly-appointed American Consul at Aden, perished. Austria offered full reparation to the United States if it wero proved that an Austrian submarine had destroyed the vessel]
