ENEMY PREPARING FOR THE

WINTER..

PETROGRAD, 4th November.

Colonel Shumsky, the Russian military critic, says : "A .strategic calm prevails along the entire Russian front. The enemy is preparing for the winter with elaborate trenches, filled with stores: the railways and roads arc being repaired, and bridges are being built. A renewal 'of their strategic aggressive is not. expected before the spring, and there is no longer any danger to Riga or Dvinsk."
