MOCK COURT
ABOUT £500 IN FINES. Although, as far as the general public was concerned, the Mock Court closed its sitting last evening, a special session was held this morning, when Mr. Geo. Hume was fined the sum of £5 10s for deserting the Wairarapa district, and a further sum of 10s 6d for being the brother of Mr. William Hume, who was fined the evening before. In order to make the money even, he increased his own fine by 10s. Then he intimated that, through the Commercial Travel81ere' Club, he wished to announce his willingness to make provision at his homestead, at Tauanui, near Featherston, for accommodating two of the wounded soldiers. (Loud applause in court.) The court will probably hold another special sitting next week. Several members of the court left last evening and this morning to dispense "justice" at the Palmerston North Show. The arrangements there have been placed in the lmnds of Mr. B. Jacobs, who will be assisted by Mr. Shortt, the wellknown commercial traveller. Mr. F. W. Manton, the energetic chairman of the club, will accompany the party. Through the "jurisdiction" dealt out by the court, the fund will benefit to the extent of about £500.
