QUEEN CARNIVAL
DIVISION OF FUNDS AMBULANCE CLAIMS. Several interested persons have approached the chairman of the Patriotic Society, Mr. H. G. Hill, for a clear statement in regard to the disposal of the Carnival funds. To a Post reporter to-day, Mr. Hill stated that there appeared to be a misunderstanding to theeffect that 25 per cent, of the proceeds of the Carnival are to be handed over to the St. John Ambulance Association and kindred bodies. This is entirely incorrect. The position is that the whole of the funds are for the wounded soldiers and sailors, and it is as much the duty of the public to look after the wounded at the front as when they return. St. John Ambulance and other bodies that can satisfy the executive, which will be appointed from the Wellington Province, and the trustees, that any claims they make are bona. fide and for the express purpose of helping the wounded, will be ablei to claim up to 25 per cent, of the total. This is very different from the statements which have been circulated that the Ambulance Association is to have 25 per cent, of the funds for its ordinary propaganda work.
