WHEAT FOR NEW ZEALAND
I TO COME FROM COMMONWEALTH. I (By Telegraph— Press Association— Copyright) (Received December 22, 9.20 a.m.) j SYDNEY, This Day. I In reply to Mr. Massey's enquiries, the Attorney-General {Hon. W. A. Holman) informed the New Zealand Government that it could have a hundred thousand bushels of wheat, provided that the New South Wales Government in March next could demand to have that quantity sent back In the following July. The Attorney-General explained: "If it is found -we have a shortage, New Zealand has got a hundred thousand bushels from us from some other part, but if our harvest is larger than is expected, we will not demand it back." The New Zealand Government has replied accepting the terms, and asking that tho wheat be sent as quickly as possible. [The New Zealand Government up to the present ' time has only got 45,000 bußhels of wheat from New South Wales, the amount being ordered and received before the embargo on export was imposed. The " 100,000 bushele from us from some other part " probably includes private orders which -were filled in fairly large quantities early in the war.]
