DETAILS OF RECENT ENCOUNTER. PAR.I* JOlh October. Details have been received of the encounter of the French armoured cruiser Waldeck Rousseau with Austrian submarines off the Gulf of Cattaro in tho Adriatic, referred to in the message of 19th October. Three submarines and an aeroplana simultaneously attacked the ship, which was in a critical position. Rapid manoeuvring and a hail of shell, however, saved the vessel, and enabled her to sink one of the submarines. An aeroplane bomb fell on the deck near the bridge.
