Advices from Noumea report the arrival of the French warship Kersaint. She visited Maiekula in company with H.M.S. Torch on 4th July in order to chastise the natives for recent murder. A company of tho Torch's marines was landed without resistance, and pioceeded through the bush, where the natives attacked. There were several skirmishes. Four native troops were wounded, and one Maiekula native captured
