NEW ZEALAND. SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS. The storm centre is still to the eastward of East Cape, and another low pressure area is now centred to the south-west of New Zealand. The proximity of these two depressions to one another has had a neutralising ellect, and this morning's reports show a decrease in the high southerly winds of yesterday and last night. Gales are still in evidence, however, at various stations in the North Island, anile very heavy seas are being experienced between East Cape and Kaikoura. Very cold and showery weather has prevailed throughout the North Island, and an increase in cloudiness has taken place over the South Island. Conditions are still threatening.
