It is fumoured that several guard* and convicts have been killed. A citizens' posse v fighting the escapees on the hills. Two men were killed and one badly wounded in a street fight. Two convict* have been recaptured, and troops have been asked to assist in the pursuit of the rest. [A message published yesterday stated that nineteen, convict* revolted at the Rawltns fienhftntiary. and escaped after a bride fight with the guards, but iine were captured.]

At last night's meeting of the Lower Hntt Borough Council Councillor Clendon commented on "the shocking state of many of the fences 6iirrottnding properties in certain 'parts of the borough."
