v K&whia and district are anxious that they should be linked up with the Main Trunk by a branch line, ostenaibry for the little seaport's ealfe, and that Wellington should bo benefited commercially thereby. 1 A deputation is to wait on tho Minister ' for Public Works (Hon. W. Fraser) this I evening, asking for a trial &urvoy of a branch lino. The personnel of tho depuration i 6 as follows: Messrs. Geo. G. Jonj athan (chairman of Kawhia Town Board), John Ormsby (representing Otohanga interests), W. J. Shaw (chairman of Kawhia County Council), C. P. Morris (chairman Kawhia Chamber of Commerce), A. ■ Kairfax and C. Haylook (Kawhia South), and V. Jackson (Mangaroa).
