SCOTTISH SOCIETY

A speoial general meeting of the Scottish Society of Wellington was held last night in Hall's rooms, Cuba-street, to con* sider the advisability of altering many of the rules of the society, as well as to submit a statement regarding its numerical and financial position. Tho cash balance in hand was shown to be £56 11s Bd, and the present momb r^ship 198, as' compared with £21 18s lud* aud 134 at tho end of 1911. Tho chief of the society, Mr. A. B; Thomson, was in the chair. Groa,t satis-faction-was expressed at the highly satisj faotory statements furnished in the report, and a 'unanimous vote of thanks to the committee was passed for the careful and ablo manner in which the proposod alteration in the rules bad been prepared. The •whole of tho suggestions of the committee were adopted unanimously. The next function, it was intimated, would be a card and dance party, to be held 'in St; Peter's Hall; on 24th July next.
