LEGALITY QUESTIONED. [BX lELEGSAPH — PBESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, This Day. At the • Harbour Board meeting, the Mayor's motion questioning the legality of the board's action in contributing fifteen guineas a year to the Employers' Association lapjsed, wanting a seconder. A further motion questioning the legality of members of the board being also members of the Employers' Federation was seconded pro forma, and was lost, the other members opposing it. The chairman (Mr. Entrican) stated that the auditor had passed the payments to the Employers' Association, and there' was absolutely no doubt of their legality. The.boaTd had never taken any part in the doings of the Employers' Association, and only joined because it was working under several awards, and when cited before the Court it was convenient to have the association's secretary appear for it.
