MOONLIGHT EXCURSION.
brt Wednesday evening next th© moonlight excursion to Day's Bay, postponed on account of the weather on 2nd January, will tak© place. The Central Mission, band will be present and play on the steamer. The excursion is under the auspices of the Mission and a concert will be held in the pavilion* •
At present the members of the junior medical staff at the Auckland Hospital are not granted any marked status according to th© length of their service. A scheme for the grading of the staff was submitted to the Hospital Board at its last meeting by Dr. Pabst, on behalf of the Medical Committee. The report of the committee, embodying the suggestion, stated that the staff, which consists of four officers, should be divided into two grades. The first would consist of those who were serving their first year at th© hospital, and these • should receive £100 per annum. The second grade would consist of those who have served more than one year, and tlrifl grade should be paid at the rate of £200 a year. If the scheme were adopted the Medical' Committee anticipated that each member of the junior resident stafi would serve a term of two years at the hospital. Hitherto this had not been the case, the average stay being very little over twelve months, and the hospital had suffered thereby. The recommendation was adopted.
