In connection with the steamer Wakatere tragedy, where one lad shot another in the temple, the depositions of the victim, who now lies in a precarious condition in the* hospital, were taken. Rowlands stated, to' the police that the shooting was quite accidental. Waldiog was not in any way to blame. , The latter came before the Police Court, charged with doing actual bodily j harm, and was remanded on bail.
