VARIABLE WEATHER.
Variable conditions prevailed yesterday. Scattered showers fell during the night and electrical condition^ were experienced in parts of the West Coast of the South Island. Early this morning, so far as Wellington is concerned, a drifting fog preceded a smart southerly shower. Subsequently the. weather cleared, but passing showers have disturbed pedestrians, and muggy conditions have obtained. The official forecast is for an unsteady barometer, with a tendency to declension, and unsettled and cloudy weather with rain in most parts of the country. Places northward of New Plymouth and Napier ar« expected to be heavily rained upon.
