VISITING DELEGATES ENTER. T4JNED. The Wellington. Typographical Union entertained visiting delesates to the Federated Typographical Onion Conference at dinner At The lifnn last evening. The guests were— Messrs, J. Buohttn/n and F. Christmas (Auckland), J. W. Henricks (Tfcr«,naki). G. C. Barker *nd J. W. F. M'Dougull (Wellington), J, Roberts and J. Pettard (Chfistchurch), Andrews and Campbell (Duneth'n), Ri* (Weetland), R. Diokson and J. R. Sheridan (Southland), and E.. Ferguson, Federal Executive representative. Thie hosts numbered over one hundred. Mt G. C. Barker presided, and extended a hearty welcome to visitors. He dpFcribed the 'steps taken to lead up to the Conferen<i3 to be held next day. "The Visiting Delegates" was proposed by Mr Swift, who wished the visitors a good time while they were in Wellington, and hoped that , they would be successful ih their mission ■ Mr. Christmas, in responding, acknowledged the good treatment that the Auckland delegates had always received. On this occasion, however, all previous hospitality wafl eclipsed. Wellington had treated the delegates handsomely. Mr. Henricks also responded, stating that he always looked upon Wellington as his horfte. In New Plymouth he was first regarded as a firebrand, but eventually the feeling Wore off, for Taranaki wag a taOßt conservative district, and did hot take kindly to innovations in the printing trade as in other directions. Mr. Roberts proposed "Parliament," which was responded to by Hon. J. A. Millar, Hon. if. Bigg, Hon. John Barr, Messrs. D. M'taren, R. A. Wright, and W. T. Jennings, M.'sP., whose responses are dealt with elsewhere. Mr, Harper proposed "The Federation," and Mr. Ferguson responded. "Kindred Trades" was proposed by Mr. Sellara, sen., and responded to by Messrs W. Naughtoa and R. H. Hustler. A pleasant evening Was spent, to which Messrs. Harper. Gray,. R. M'lntyre, M. Robinnon, and T, Hodges contributed with Bongs. l The committee ,were Messrs. G. C. Barker, B. Binning, B. J. Finuoane, J, Harper, S. W. F. M'Dougall, T. M'lntyre, F. Swift, and H, R. van Borsaun.
