TAXI-CABS.
ARE THE CHARGES EXTORTIONATE? This makes a total of 42. Councillor R. Fletcher : Can the Deputy-Mayor tell me if there ie any tariff for taxi-cabs? The Deputy-Mayer s We are only waiting until the Mayor returns. It will soon be attended to. Many of the taxis have had to be returned to the shops before tht-i}' 1 ictuses were granted. "Have we an officer who inspects the machinery of taxis?" queried the councillor. "Ye?," replied the Deputy-Mayor. "The prices they charge are extortionate)" declared Councillor Fletcher. "I suggest that the committee draft a tariff.* This was agreed to.
