Mr. Edgar WyKe, who was requested by a- deputation to offer himself as a candidate for the council, has intimated that business considerations prevent nim on this occasion from complying with, the request. Captain D. Watson, secretary of the Merchant Service Guild, will be a candidate for the Harbour Board, standing as representative for the combined districts. Mr. W. Scott Bedford, who is standing for the council election, opens his campaign at the Newtown Library Hall to-night.
