The new air compressors recently installed at the Talisman mine are running smoothly and satisfactorily, and ample power is now available for the resumption of the various development works temporarily suspended when the plant in the old Woodstock battery was destroyed by fire. The- superintendent (Mr. Stansfield), however, reports that great difficulty has been experienced since the holidays in getting competent miners, and, as a result, has not been able to commence operations at four development points, which offer empioymcat to from twenty-five to thirty experienced rock-drillers, besides the necessary complement of truckers. As scon aa the men are available, work below No. 13 level will be pushed forward as speedily as possible, and it is not anticipated that the water below the point mentioned will cause any further delay in the sinking of the main incline shaft for No. 14 level. , THE WAIHI MINE.
