MAJOR-GENERAL GODLEY AT CHRISTCHURCH.

CHRISTCHURCH, 30th January. This morning Major-General Godley, accompanied by Lieutenant-Colonel Burnett Stuart and Captain .D. C. Spencer Smith and Lieutenant-Colonel Hawkins (officer commanding the Canterbury district), paid a visit of inspection to the an-munltioji store at Arldington, and to th? site of the territorial training camp at Yaldhurst. In the afternoon the Com". mandant ma*j an inspection of the King Edward Barracks, visiting the harness shop, the' big gun room, the orderly rooms, and the aimourer's shop. At 3 o'clock he held a conference with local officers regarding the organisation of the territorial forces. Ihis evening a parade of the North Canterbury territorial forces was held in the King Iklward Barracks, and an inspection by the Commandant, who met the officers, and also the unattached officers of Christchurch and several leading citizens in the officers' club-rooms.- To-morrow the Commandant will inspect the forts at Lyttelton harbour, and at 5 p.m. will jneet the Christ(.hureh. Scoutmasters.
