Owing to the absence of the Socialist candidate and the impossibility of correcting hia nomination paper, a threecornered contest at West" Salford was avoided. Mr. A. A. Haworth (Liberal) has been re-elected unopposed for South Manchester, as Mr. Gflazebrook, his Unionist opponent, mistaking the time, arrived six minutes too late. » OPPOSITION TAUNTS. The Opposition papers taunt the Government's supporters with opposing the referendum because it will destroy the system of groups and coalescing of factions as witnessed in recent years. JEWISH CANDIDATES. (Received December 3, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 2nd December. There are thirty-six Jewish candidates contesting seats at the election — twenty Liberals and sixteen Unionists. In two London constituencies all the candidates are Jews.
