The British steamer Telemachus picked up in the Indian Ocean the schooner Sea Queen, which had been helplessly blown about lor four months. One of the crew was alive ; the others had perished from, (hirst, after terrible sufferings / PTOMAINE POISONING. LONDON, 12th August. Twenty additional cases of ptomaine poisoning from eating pork-pies are reported from Wrexham, in Wales. One case has resulted fatally. CROSSING THE ALPS. GENEVA, 12th August. A Swiss balloonist, Captain Spelterini, crossed the Alps •in an aeroplane, accompanied by an Austrian Archduke and Baron Rothschild. FOREST FIRES. NEW YORK, 12th August. Two infantry battalions have been withdrawn from the military manoeuvres in Washington State to fight tho forest fires which are raging in Western Montana and Northern Idaho.
