LADIES' GAMES.
After a lapse of a fortnight the Wellington Ladies' Hockey Association con tinued its fixtures on Saturday. In the senior competition there wero iwo very close contests, each ending in a draw, ln one — Victoria College B v. Wellington, each tide scored two goals, while Petone and St. John's each secured one point. In contrast to thc-e gumes, Victoria College easily defeated Gregg's (two players short) by 11 goals to nil. Reports "of tho various matches are as follow: — WELLINGTON (2) v. VICTORIA COLLEGE B (2). This game on the No. 2 ground was not productive of interesting play. A spell of pfay ensued in College territory during which spell Miss Wright scored for Wellington. After this College had Wellington on the defence, but they were unable to find the net. Through the good play of Miss Swindale Wellington gained the circle, and this player made the score two goals in favour of Wellington. Half time sounded subsequently. The second speJJ was much th& same , as the fhst had been, although at times there was good combined play on both, sides. College, after repeated attacks, were enabled to register a point, and again towards the end Miss Johnson equalised the scores. Mr. A. Hall controlled the game. PETONE (1) v. ST. JOHN'S (1). Miss Lepper scored for Petone, and Miss Paterson for St. John's. It was an evenly-contested game, both teams displaying a good knowledge. VICTORIA COLLt^fcl A (11) v. GPIEGG'S (0). Gregg's match was never in doubt, the former having things all their own way The losers, being two players short, played only one half-back, and consequently the opposing forwards had no opposition.. Most of the winning teanrfe forwards contributed tp the large score. Mr. H. V. Walton sefereed. JUNIOR. College Old Girls defeated St. John's by seven goals to one. Scorers for College Girls were : — Misses (Shearer (4), Rosskruge, Charlesworth, and Woodward. The scorer of St. John's goal was Miss Wallace. Hereawa won their match against Celtic B by three goals (scored by Misses Sinclair, Porteous, and Wainright) to nil. Mr. Wrigley was the referee. St. Mark's put up a rather plucky fight against Rprriblers, considering that they played two short, a'ud only lost by 4 goals to 2. The .ladies in the winning team who were successful in obtaining goals were Misses Twohill (2) and Cain"ion (2), while Misses Armstrong and Madley were responsible for the lowers' score. AUCKLAND MATCHES. Tut telegbaph— i'kiss association.] AUCKLAND, 22nd May. The Auckland Hockey Association's matches were continued in ideal weather yesterday^, and on good grounds. In the senior grade Auckland defeated St. George's by 2 goals to 1. United defeated Fonsonby by 6 goals to 2, and University defeated Grafton by 4 goals to 1.
