DISTRICT HOSPITAL BOARD.

The final meeting of the board for th« present year was held yesterday, Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P., presiding. The other members present were : Messrs. R. C. Kirk (treasurer), HorowhertUa County Council; C. J. Crawford, Miramar Borough Council ; M. Murdoch, J. Smith, and J, Godber, Wellington City Council. OTAKI HOSPITAL.. The matron reported that during th» month of October fourteen patients, had been admitted, and an equal number discharged. There were three males and seven females under treatment. , Two deaths occurred during the month. Five operations had been carried out under anaesthetics. Work was going on satisfactorily. The sum of £3 12s had been received on behalf of patients. The chairman stated that Dr. Husthwaite had been very hard worked for dome time past, and had asked for three or, four weeks' leave of absence, which he (the chairman) had granted. Tha chairman's action was approved. A sum of £10 was granted for the X- ' rays plant, in order to effect some ua* provements to bring it up to date. OTAKI SANATORIUM. The matron reported that three patients were admitted, and an equal number discharged, during the month qf October. There were eleven males and fifteen females under treatment at the end of tho month. Fees received during tho month amounted to £25 10s; NEW FEVER HOSPITAL. Mr. -Kirk, who stated that tho board had made a levy of £4500 on the local bodies, moved that a progress payment be made to the Hospital Trustees in re. gard to tho contract for the Fever Hospital, in anticipation of funds coming in from tho local bodies. The motion was seconded by Mr. Crawford and carried. | FINANCE. Tho chairman reported that there wag a credit balance of £2551 10s 2d. -After paying tho accounts, amounting to £1852 7s 9d, there would.be a balance of £699 2s 6d. The accounts passed included £100 towards tho new Fever Hospital.
