There was keen competition, and a considerable rise of pric&s as compared with the November sale of 1908, and an advance alfeo on the prices ruling at the Wellington sale. The bulk of the wool in the 7127 bales offered was in excellent condition, clean, and fairly light in g t -ense. Want of classing was evident in the farmers' lots., and these suffered markedly in price in consequence. Fifty buyers were present, Home, Continental, Ameiican, and colonial firms being represented. American buyers were very active for all lots suitable for Ameucan requirements. Continental representatives did Inot buy a very large .proportion, but Bradfoid eecured a very fair share of the offering. Very little was passed in unsold. The range of prices in the forenoon was as follows: — Merino, lOAd to 12Jid per lb, Miper half-bred 13d to 15d, medium 10-^d to 12 Ad, inferior B}d to lOd; super Comedale, 12d to 13£ d, medium HUd to 12d ; super three-quarter bred, 12d to 14d, medium 9^d to 10£ d, inferior 7£ to 9d ; super crossbred, I2d to 13|d, medium &£d to HJd, inferior 6d to 9; long wool BJd to 12d; super down, 12d to 13d, inferior to good Bid to lid; half-bred pieces, 6^d to 91d; crossbred pieces 5d to B|d;' bellies," s|d to 9d; locks and Kcutchings, 4d to 7d.
