FIRE AT PETROLEUM WORKS. ESTIMATED DAMAGE.
[BT TB-EGBAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The directors of the Taranaki iPetroleum Company met this morning, and decided to remove the derrick now idle on the Whiteley Trust property to No. 3 bore. The engine at the bore was apparently not seriously damaged by the fire, and it is confidently hoped to have all in working order again, within three weeks. Until then it is impossible to say definitely whether the bore has suffered in any way. I/uckily. a heavy beam fell on too, and effectually cut off the gas and oil while the fire was in progress. The total damage is estimated at about £400.
