SAWMILL DESTROYED,
AT TOKO. STRATFORD, This Day. At sn early hour this morning the New Plymouth Sash and Door Factory Company's sawmill at Toko was destroyed by fire. Eve-ything except stacked timber was destroyed. The insurances are not known here yet. ; SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS. ' Telephone messages from the scene of the fires nientioned the fact that at least one w >rthy resident was congratulating himself tor taking precautions in time. All His papers and valuables were safely loc-itdd in one of Chubb's safes, and he l:nfw that nothing would be damaged, for it is well known that these safes have never been known to fail, even in the fiercest fire. Mr. James Dykes, of 'Gualter, Dykes, and Co., Featherston-;Street^\ is attorney in New Zealand for Chubb and Sons, and holds stocks of their fire-resisting safes and strong-room doors. — Advt.
