AN UNFORTUNATE MISUNDER- : STANDING. IBs Telegraph. — Prkss Association.^ MASTERTON, This Day. Masterton was greatly disappointed' at the non-arrival of Lord Plunket for •to-night's ambulance demonstration, when the Governor was to present certificates. A guard of honour went to the station to escort him to the town.* Enquiry has resulted In the fact beingascertained that Lord Plunket only arrived in Wellington late last night and was under the impression that to-mor-row was the day fixed for the function. Profuse apologies have been tendered for the misunderstanding. There is a. considerable gathering of country residents in the town to attend tho various 'gubernatorial functions, which now havebeen postponed till to-morrow.
