The market rate of discount for best three months' bills is unchanged at 3J per cent. The Bank of England rate, is 4 per cent., as against 4£ per cent, on 25th April, and 5 per cent, on 11th April. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat. — Brilliant summer weather has caused general activity in tho markets, with a decline of Is from top prices, although the world's shipments are small, and tho actual situation not materially changed. Cargoes are neglected. South Australian April shipments offering at 35s 3d, Victorian September shipment 375. There is a better demand for Australian on spot at 363 6d to 375; New Zealand, 'none offering. Flour is quiet. The quotation for Australian flour in London is 24s bd to 25i ; nothing dointf at Glasgow. Butter is very dull ; colonial neglected and nominally unchanged. Sugar is steady. German beet, Bdeg., Id higher, at 9s Yd ; first mark granulated, f.o.b. Hamburg, unchanged, at 11s 2d per cwt. Bradford Tops. — The market is quiet, everything firmly held. THE METAL MARKETS. Copper, spot 70s lower, at £94, three months' 75a lower, at £87 per ton. Tin, spot, 6G3 lower, at £183 10s;, three months', £180 10s per ton. Lead, 20s lower, at £20 10s per ton. Pig-iron, 6d higher, at 56a 8d per ton. Spelter, £23 17s 6d per ton. Silver, 2s 7 7-16 d per ounce. LONDON WOOL SALES. (Received duly 20, 11.52 a.m.) LONDON, 19th July, At the wool sales merinos and fine crossbredg were firm at full rates. Low crossbreds wero easier. LONDON MARKETS. Dalgely and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cable message from their London office, dated the 18th inst. : —Frozen Meat. — Aotivo demand for lamb in consequence of the warm weather ; poor demand for mutton, and buyers seem unwilling to operate at present prices. Better demand for beaf, prices are firm. We quote:— New Zaaland prime crossbred lamb, Cantorbury, heavy weights, 51d; liglit, 5Jd ; North Island lamb, heavy, s|dj light, 51d ; Now Zealand prime crossbred mutton, Cantorbury, heavy weights, 3|d; light, 4id ; North Island mutton, heavy, 3id ; light, 3?d ; New Zealand primo ox beef, fores 3jd, hinds 4d. Butt ._^The or market remains unchanged. The total imports of butter into tho United Kingdom for tho week ending tho 13th in^t., amounted to 83,0000wt, asjcomparcd with 94,000cvrt for tho corresponding week of 1906. Tallow.— Primo mutton tallow, Unchanged. Other descriptions aro, on tho averago, higher fey 6d per cwt. Hides, leather, and basil*, -lnenaiiged. WOOL, SKIN, IndT HIDE SALES. Murray, Roberts and Co. report:— Wo catalogued seventy bales wool, principally crutohings, 1500 sheepskjns, and 450 hides yesterday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantilo Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows: —At yesterday's sale wo offered a catalogue of 30 bales and 30 bags wool, about 10U0 skins, 265 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Tho Australian hide market is reported much lower, and prices here have dropped another id per lb on last sales rates. Good sheepskins wero in demand at late rates, but snort-woollod and broken pelts showed some decline. Wo quote : — Wool. — Inferior crossbred, 6jd to 7d per lb ; coarse crossbred, 8d to B£d ; crutchings, clean and light, 6d to 6^d ; crutchings, coarse, sjd to 6d ; crutohings, inferior and seedj', 4d to 5Jd. Sheepskins. — Crossbred pelts, sound, 6d to 6Jd per lb ; orossbred pelts, broken and inferior, 2d to s£d ; orossbred pelts, half to three-quar-ter-woolled, 8d to Bid; halfbred, Bid to 9d ; lambskins, good, 7Ad to 8d ; lambskins, broken and inferior pelts, 6|d to 7d ; dead skins, 6d to 7d ; green skins, 4s 6d to 7s 7d each. Hides.— Ox, light, 4|d to to 5d per lb ; cow, 4§d to 4Jd ; damaged hides, 3d to 4^d; calfskins,, sound, 5d to 6jjd : calfskins, damaged, Id to 4gd ; bull hides, 2d to 3id. Tallow.— Medium qualfty mixed, in shipping condition, 26s per owt ; fat, in tins, 20s to 22s 6d per cwt ; horsehafr, to Is 4d per lb. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their usual fortnightly salo of wool, skins, and hides, yesterday afternoon. Buyers were present in fair numbers, and bidding was keen, but on a slightly lower level than previous sales. Wool. — Our catalogues was a large one, consisting mostly of crutchings of medium quality. Prices were easier by id to id. We quote: — Inferior crobsbred, 7d to 7-jd ; drutchings, medium, 6d to 6id ; inferior, sid to 53d ; dead wool, s|d to 6id ; looks, 3jd. Skins. — Mostly station lines of inferior auality offering. Prices were easier by Id for good lines .We quote: — Crossbred, full-woolled, Bid to B^d ; half-wools, 7Jd to B£d ; orossbreds, 7id to 8i ; lambs, Bid ; dead and inferior, 6£d to 7id ; broken and damaged, 4£d to sid; butohers' green skins, 5s to 7s 2d. Hides.— Market was weaker all round, tho best ox and cow fetching s£d to 5d respectively. We quota : —Ox, 701b to 801b, sid ; 601b to 701b, Sd to 5Ad; cows, 501b to 601b. 4Jd to sid ; under 501b, 4^l to 4?d; calf, 6|d to 7id. Tallow. — A keen demand still exists for all parcels, and we quote casks inshipping order, £24- 5s to £26 15s per ton ; in tins, 23s to 23s 9d per cwt. Levin and Co., Ltd., report:— We hold our fortnightly gale to-day, offering 80 bales wool, 2000 skins, 550 hides, and a. quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a fair attendance of buyers. We had a good offering of crutchings, but prices were easier to the extent of a id per lb. Wool. — Wo quotes — Coarso crossbred 7£d to BJ.d ; rough and inferior, 6d to 7id ; pi aces and bellies, 4id to s£d ; locks. 3d to 4d ; crutchings "(qood), •6d to ojd ; crutchings (seedy), 4d to s|d. Skim — Thero was good competition for skin* at last sale rates. We quoto — Merinos, 7d to Gd ; fine crossbreds, 8d to B£d ; t coarse crossbreds, 8d to Bid ; dead skins, o£d to 7id ; dead hoggets, 6^d td 7d ; dry 'pelts, 5d to 5Jd ; lamb eklns, 7^d to Bid ; green skins, 5s to 7s 3d ; lamb pelts, 3s to ss. Tallow — Firm ; parcels in shipping order, £27; tins, £17 to £23; rough fat, £14. Horsehair, Is to Is 4d per lb. Horn 3, 8s to 25s 9d per 100. Hides — In tympathy with the lower outside nuarkcts price 3 fell further hero to-day. Heavies fell id to Jd, as did stn^s and bulls. Cow hides just about held their own.
