Strong to gale from s:me direction other parts of North Island after that time, extending southward tr> Lyttelton .iftcr 30 hours. Mocferato to strong easterly winds elsewhere. Baiometcr. — Fall cveijwner. Sea. — Very heavy on cast coast north of East Cape, and extending southward to Ljttelton after 24 to 30 hours; moderate on all "western coa^t. Tides. — Very h'gh on catt coast north of East Cape, and from thence pouthwaid after from 24 to 30 hours; poor on all western const. Rain.— Very heavy and rivers heavy flood noith of Eapt Cape, Taupo, and Mjmikau, cj> tending southward to Napier after 20 hour.s, and piobably heavy rain other pails of Noith Isliind. Warning signals for easterly gale are exhibited nt Cape, Mann Van J>iera£!i, Tintiri, En«t Cape, Cape Campbell, and Farewell Spit. SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS. Falling baiometer nt all places northward of Napier and New Plymouth, especially jn the most noitliern places, whetc it has fallen nearly half an inch with heavy gale and rain from the eastward, but there, has been little- movcrafiu thence south to Cape.
