The Morning Post Lagos correspondent states that Mr. Oewald Crowe Read, As-sistant-Commissioner, was murdered in the Asaba hinterland. 1 Captain Budkin, with two hundred of the Southern Nigerian Regiment, hastened thither. They arrived at Ogbor by forced marches. After heavy fighting, the enemy retreated. The troops behaved with great gallantry. Further fighting is imminent.
