* [&X TELEGRATH. — PBESS ASSOCIATION.} OiiRISTCHURCH, Jlth April. Mr. G. A. U. Tapper, Secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council, has received a letter from Mr. B. J. Waxdell, Secretary of the Melbourne Cricket Club, in reference to his communication asking if it would be possible to induce the Marylebone cricket . team, which will ■ shorli" visit Australia, to visit New Zealand, stating that the team would visit Australia unless something unforeseen happened. He could not say, for some time whether it would be possible to send the team to New Zealand even if the association could offer terms to make an • inducement. The time-table,, say six weeks, would be an almost insuperable bar to a visit to New Zealand. At the beginning of the cricket season Mr. Denton, of Willis-street, promised two bats to the winning team in the. Public Schools'' Championship. The bats were won by the Mount Cook Boys' School, and were handed over by Mr. Denton last Thursday. TO-MORROW'S FIXTURES.
