WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION. At last evening's weekly meeting of, the Management Committee of tuo Wellington Rugby Union, there were present—Messrs., Galbraith (in the chair), King, Laughton, Beck, Hill, Kellow, Pagni, and M'Kenzie. Grounds for tomorrow's games were allotted as follows :— Athletic, Park, No. 151 5 Oriental, Park, No. 2; Wellington, Miramar, No. 1 ; Old Boys, Miramar, No. 2 ; Poneke, Miramar, No. 3; St. James's, Miramar, No. 4. A donation of £2 2s was received from i Mr. J. P. Firth. j The colours of the newly-formed St. ] James's Club were fixed as maroon and ' white, and permission was given to the Southern Club to change its colours to maroon. m '■ In the matter of the Union's amalgamation proposals, it was decided to write to tho Wangamii Union, stating that the committee would await replies from other centres before submitting terms of amalgamation. j It was decided to inform the New Zealand Rugby Union that teams would visit Otago", Southland, Canterbury, and Wairarapa during the season. The local delegates to the New Zealand Union w,ere instructed to support Mr. Fache's motion for three years tenure of office for the Appeal Committee, i A snbcomi# tee was formed to ap.proach editors of the daily papers with a view to having more prominence given, to the reporting of football matches. A letter of sympathy was ordered to be sent to Air. Brodie 'in reference to his recent accident. Instructions' were given to' the Drawing Committee to draw only senior and ' jiinior matches for Saturday, 20th inst., ' and to publish same on Monday. Third and fourth class teams are to be drawn for the following Saturday. The annual meeting of the United Tradesmen's Football Club was held 'at the Trocadaro on Wednesday night. The report showed the club to have a balance on the right <side, and the liabilities nil. The club had two teams (classed as A and ji) playing in the Wednesday competition last j'ear. The A team won ' the competition, > going through the sea- ' wn "without defeat, and playjeid tjbn matches, nine of. which were won, and the other drawn.- The club was represented by eight members in the rep. ■ match played at Carterton between the Wairarapa Thursday and Wellington Wednesday reps., victory resulting with the town team by a try to nil, and a Tradesman being the scorer. Several new members were elected, and it was decided to open the season on Wednesday, the 24th, with a match with tho United Butchers. The following officers ■were elected for the ensuing year: — President, Mr. G. P. Payne; Vice-Presi-dents, Messrs. James .Meston, A. Richards ; Captain, Mr. C. Whelan (re-elec-ted) ; Secretary and' Treasurer, Mr. E. . Read ; General v Committee, Messrs. H. ! Snell, T. Taylor, and. Fairbrother, with the officers (ex-officio) ; delegate to Rugby Union, Mr. E. Read. It was decided to post on the defaulters Ust afl who have not paid their subscriptions. Votes of thanks were given to the retiring of- 'j ficers j The Wellington Referees' Association will hold its annual meeting tnis evening at the llrocadero. Besides the usual routine business there are several matters of interest to be gone into. The Athletic Park directors have acceded to , the request sent in last week to allow i all "active members of the association j the right of entry to their ground. This graceful aot will prove /very gratftying to the association. Mr. T. Brodie, one of the masters at the Wellington College, met with an accident on Wednesday afternoon while ■ coaching some of the scholars at football. Mr. llrbdie i.4 still confined to his room, and it is feared that he will be unable to get into a jersey this year. Last season he made his way into tho city's representative fifteen for the fir3t time, and gave great promise of becoming a brilliant three-quarter.
