HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR IS DUE.

TO THB BPITOE. Sir — I see that in drawing up the programme for the reception of our Royal visitors no provision whatever is being made for the men who have risked their life in the Empire's service. The same at the ceremony in connection with Kmr late Queen' 9 funeral. No provision whatever was made for these men. How different the treatment accorded to onr brave citizen soldiers on the same occasion in London, where the colonial volunteers were given a special place 'of honour. Surely, sir, now, .it at all, is the time to show our appreciation of the services rendered by the men whom we made such a fuss over upon the occasion of their ldaving us for the seat oftrouble. Surely it would be very appropriate for these men to form a guard of honour, or something of that sort, upon the occasion of the Duke and Duchess's visit. The. Premier, at the time of the departure of these brave fellows, promised them a still heartier welcome than they got when they left, at the time of their return. Very few of them have had anything that wo might coil a welcome at all. I hope, before too late, that this will commend itself, to those in charge of the arrangements, and that we will at least show some little appreciation to the men who have fought for the Empire in its time of trouble, - and who sacrificed so much for King and country.— l am, etc., ' HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR IS DUB. Wellington, Bth April, 1901. (For contimiaiion of Nevoi see page 7./
