NEW RIFLE RANGE AT MIRAMAR. The formal opening of the rifle range which the Wellington Navals have formed at Mirainar ■ took place on, Saturday afternoon. Tho first shot was fiicd by Airs. John Duncan, who then declared the rango opened. The marker recorded a 'bullVeyo for the shot fired by Mrs. Duncan, and the bullet used together with the disclun gcd cartridge were presented to her as v memento of the occusion. After cheers had been given for Mrs. Duncan and for the succuss of the range, a number of ladies tried their ikill with tha
rifle, and home very fair shooting was done. Subsequently a match was fired between teams rcpi osenting the married and singlo men in the corps. The Benedicts (under Lieut. Biss) defeated the bachelors (under Lieut. Handyside) by 10 points. During Uhe afternoon refreshments were served by a committee of ladies. The D Battery and the Cycle Corps intend to purchase an interest in the range. At the Karori Riflo Club's range on Saturday afternoon, Messrs. F*. Lissinglon and E. Randell secured a leg-in foi the respective trophies of Messrs. Gillespie and H. Moss.
