A GOLD FIND IN BRITISH COLUMBIA.
One of the richest veins of gold yet found in British Columbia (says a New York correspondent) has been discovered by Airs. Alice Treat, of New York, whose husband is in business in Wall-street. The tind is on Texanda Island, in the western part of the province, which is as yet thoroughly wild, and abounds with game. It was the fine shooting which led Mrs. Treat to make several trips to the island with her husband, as both of them are fond of sport. While out shooting one day, the expedition came to a small hill, on which Mrs. ( Treat discovered a quantity of ore shining on the surface of the ground neai a large tree. The ground seemed lull of the precious mineral. A claim was immediately laid out, and miners set to work. All the ore taken out as yet yicldr double the quantity of gold yielded by the other ores in that region, and it is expected that tho mine will prove the largest and richest in the province.
