4 110 PERSONS DROWNED. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Sydney. 23rd July. Eastern news contains the information that the steamer Seihong Ann, with a large number of European, Chinese, and Malayan passengers, foundered during a squall in the Straits of Malacca. She sank in three minutes, and 110 of those on board, including Mr. Allen, chief engineer, and several other Europeans, were drowned. Many influential Malacca and Singapore families lost relatives. Captain Rawlingson and the second engineer, Mr. Gomez, were rescued from a floating box.
