OBITUARY. MISS JEAN INGELOW. [press association.] London, 20th July.

The death is announced of Miss Jean Ingelow, poetess and authoress. [Miss Ingelow, who came of old Lincolnshire stock, was born at Boston (England) in 1820. She published a volume of poems iv 18(J3, and followed it up with a series of works which have long been deservedly popular. Among her best-known contributions to literature are " A Story of Doom," 1867 , " Mopsa the Fairy/ 1869 "Off the Skelligs," 1872: "Fated to be Free," 1875 ; " Sarah de Berenger," 1880 , and "Don John," 1881. Miss Ingelow on a few occasions of late years wrote stray articles for the magazines, but otherwise retrained from literary work.
